Judy Johnson began singing at a very young age. At the age of 15, she began classical training on the east coast and then moved to Geneva, Switzerland where she studied Bel Canto (classical technique) with a retired prominent Metropolitan Opera singer for 10 years. During that time she also studied classical piano, languages, worked at the United Nations and traveled the world. While in Europe, Judy participated in international singing competitions, gave recitals for the United Nations and held lead roles in various musicals. She then returned to the United States and while residing in San Diego, has performed at numerous events including the Del Mar Fair for Cox Cable, Veteran's Day Memorials on the USS Midway where she sings the National Anthem, numerous solos at local churches, annual Hospice Mass Memorial Services, and countless weddings and funerals.

Judy took a break from her music in the 90’s while she obtained her B.A. in Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work. She used this education as a Hospice Social Worker where she also sang at patient’s bedsides for several years. However, following an injury sustained in a car accident, Judy is no longer able to perform her duties at Hospice and has now established and manages her own full-time singing business; “Songs From The Soul.”

Judy is enjoying tremendous success as a wedding vocalist and loves the warm feedback from brides and their families who say “you sounded like an angel … we all had chills … you made my wedding day perfect!” She feels it is such a joy to be part of their wedding day, the day that begins the rest of their lives together.

At the other end of the spectrum, Judy has found great reward singing at funerals and memorials as well. Judy states; “When singing for a loved one’s service, people are so deeply touched and moved at such a painful time, that they share with me after the service and for years to come, that the music opened them up to the fullness of their grief, allowed their tears to flow and gave them the chance to begin to heal from their losses.”

Judy feels that her social work background and warm, compassionate nature is of great value to those who invite her to sing at their weddings, memorials and other crucial events. Says Judy; “I feel blessed that where my ministry as a hospice social worker came to a forced ending, I am able to continue that ministry by touching and healing hearts through my vocal music.”
